Posey, 30, who won the award for the first time last season, is joined by fellow nominees Yadier Molina (Cardinals) and Tucker Barnhart. Molina, 35, considered one of the best defensive catchers of all time, won the award eight times from 2008-2015. Barnhart, 26, has never won the award.
The numbers say Barnhart is the favorite to win it this year, with his 2.2 defensive wins above replacement topping the league by a significant margin. He also led the MLB in fielding percentage amongst catchers at .999.
In other Gold Glove news Joe Panik is not a candidate to repeat at second base after winning his first last year.
