What started as Marshawn Lynch bringing a little Beast Mode to his alma mater’s football team while serving his one-game suspension has put Oakland Tech High School in hot water with its school district. As a result, Oakland Tech is now facing a potential suspension for allowing Lynch to take part in their practice on Thursday evening.
According to the California Interscholastic Federation, only students in 9-12 grades can practice with high school football teams. In response, Oakland Unified School District released a statement to TMZ on Friday:
“(Marshawn’s) participation in the practice did not comply with Oakland Athletic League’s rules and regulations. Site administration did not receive prior notice that Lynch would be attending an after school practice. Once they found out, they and the League Commissioner promptly reminded all OUSD coaches of the bylaws and took appropriate measures.”
After watching Lynch’s loyalty to Oakland play out after his ejection on Thursday, when he watched the remainder of the game from the stands and even took BART home, is anyone really that surprised that he’d show up to his alma mater in pads?
Look out Cal, you could be next. Again.
